Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told voters in America's Dairyland on Monday that President Bush had a secret plan that would hurt milk producers after the election.
Kerry tried to convince voters in this rural community, where he is practicing for Thursday's debate, that he would look out for dairy farms here even though he hadn't always in the past.
Matt's Chat
Oh, for the love of -Look, John, everytime you see a poll where you're down, you come out and say that evil Bu$Hitler Chimpy McShrub has a secret HALLIBURTON! plan to destroy whomever it is that you happen to be talking to that day. It is getting OLD. And the tactic isn't that effective as those polls should be telling you...
I'm not the only one who has noticed this. I present to you the Daily Dispatch from North Carolina:
The Massachusetts Democrat has developed a curious habit of campaigning against Republican George W. Bush by using audience-specific scare tactics, more specifically, by accusing Bush of having "secret plans" to do this, that, or some other thing, always "after the election."John (and surrogates), your problem isn't George W. Bush. Your problem is you (your candidate). Stop the senseless rhetoric and engage the issues and do try to keep it positive this time. That's my advice, not that you'll listen to reason.
Since June, the Kerry campaign's Web site has alleged that Bush has "a secret plan" to slash federal spending almost across-the-board, including funding for programs important to voters - homeland security, education, homeownership and scientific research. All of this, the allegations claim, will happen "after the election." (As an aside, it's interesting that Kerry would be critical of plans by Bush to cut government spending, when he's also bashing Bush for spending too much and creating record deficits.)
On Sept. 18, Kerry (quoted in USA Today) said Bush had a secret plan for a massive call-up of National Guard troops and military reserves, a plan that would swing into action in November if Bush is re-elected.
On Monday in Wisconsin (see related story, page 9A) Kerry told dairy farmers that Bush had a secret plan that would hurt milk producers, saying Bush wouldn't back renewal of federal programs that help Dairyland farmers, but that the president wouldn't admit it until after the election.
We'd really like to hear Kerry talking more about himself, but we're not sure that he can. That's because all of Kerry's plans for the country seem to be secrets, too.
Mark's Remarks
This secret plan nonsense sounds like more projection from the Left. I mean, Kerry's plans are so secret, EVEN HE doesn't know what they are. The guy has not interated a vision, much less a coherent plan, much less a coherent line of reasoning for his vacillations on issues. It is shameful the FEARmongering the left is doing, but that is all they have. They don't have a candidate who can run on anything, they don't have a vision, they don't have hope. They only have hate and FEAR. Many times they project this fearmongering onto Republicans, but look at what they do:
Republicans will steal your social security,
Republicans will steal your kids' lunches,
Republicans get elected and will take away black rights,
Republicans getting elected will cause the draft to come back (EVEN THOUGH RUMSFELD HAS GONE ON RECORD AS SAYING HE DOESN'T WANT DRAFTEES, AND IT IS IN FACT A DEMOCRAT WHO INITIATED THE LEGISLATION TO BRING BACK THE DRAFT!!!!!)
All of these and more fear laden charges have been levelled by Democrats. Why aren't they being called to task by "the mainstream media" for fearmongering and running on FEAR? The answer: obviously, they want the Democrats to win, and will throw down even the veneer of objectivity (Dan Blather) simply to destroy a President whom they don't care for.
