I forgot to deal with this yesterday. Fortunately, Lileks reminded me in his Bleat today...Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Stevens said Tuesday he would push to apply broadcast decency standards to subscription television and radio services like cable and satellite.Okay, this may make me unpopular in some segments of Jesusland, but this is utter nonsense.
"Cable is a much greater violator in the indecency area," the Alaska Republican told the National Association of Broadcasters, which represents most local television affiliates. "I think we have the same power to deal with cable as over-the-air" broadcasters.
"There has to be some standard of decency," he said.
Stevens told reporters afterward that he would push legislation to apply the standards to cable and satellite radio and television.
You don't want smut on cable, block those channels...it's real easy to do.
I thought the Republicans were all about smaller government with fewer regulations? Am I crazy or does this sound like a liberal thing? It's all for The Childrentm of course.
Leave my cable and my Internet alone Senator.
