Something about anniversaries...

By Matt for the TIB Network:

Joseph Galloway has an opinion piece that is supposed to look like news on the Knight-Ridder wire that Yahoo News has picked up. The only paragraph worth noting is the first one:
Something about anniversaries prods us to pause and reflect on what's transpired in the intervening time. March 20 is the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and it's a good time to consider what's happened since then.
In no particular order:

  • Saddam has been captured.

  • Saddams sons are taking a nice long dirt nap.

  • Yassir Arafat has joined them.

  • Libya's leadership decided that weapons of mass destruction weren't as important as breathing.

  • The Palestinians elected a new leader.

  • Afghanis voted for the first time.

  • Iraqis voted.

  • So did their women.

  • Kuwaiti women now want the right to vote too.

  • Syria is withdrawing from Lebanon.

  • Egypt is going to have freer elections next time around.

  • The Middle East peace process is starting to finally happen.

  • Any idea what triggered all that? Answer: 9/11 and President Bush's response to it; including, but not limited to the war in Iraq which no matter how many hippie boomers try to paint as such, is not a quagmire.
