Heavy Heart

I was preparing a couple of articles on another topic when this week's events from Rome gripped me. I am a Roman Catholic, still proud of that fact. Throughout my life I have really known only one Pope. This man is a great historical figure who stood with another hero of mine, Ronald Reagan, at the end of the 20th Century to face evil in our times. The Catholic Church as an entity is far from infallible, it is made up of humans with Divine direction. But Pope John Paul II has given a direction that has helped keep the Catholic Church on a path. There are many specific policies that one can look at and say that the Church does not respond or understand. One of the most important things I take from him personally is that morality, faith, and spiritually for me will transcend time and place. It does not modify itself for any particular country or moment in history. Whether people will agree with you, he has shown me that my core can be defended with pride and that I do not have to be ashamed of that fact. Well wishers from around the world as I are praying not for a recovery, but for the God I believe in to take this man to his place in Heaven and that we may receive another person to help start guide us in this millenium. God Bless you and your families and God Bless Pope John Paul II, a personal hero of mine.
