From Mr. Hackett's website:
If American ingenuity can put a man on the moon there is no doubt that we can develop a cost effective alternative fuel the will remove our dependence on foreign oil.
A few months back, when the gas topped out at $2.40 or $2.50, I didn’t pay that price. I was in Iraq—I saw how high the price really was.
So, according to Mr. Hackett, this war is not about freedom, as he also claims in his rhetoric. It is really about big oil, that our soldiers are simply dying for oil. Hmmm...where have we heard that before? Cue up the Teddy Kennedy crazy montage.
Social Security is a promise made by our elected officials to us, the citizens of the United States. I don’t break my promises and I expect the same from my government. Social Security is not broken but it can be improved and secured.
I guess the actuaries of the account are wrong. Of course, it is not like they would actually know anything about Social Security. And, of course, Mr. Hackett is a certifiable expert, or is he certifiable? He proposes taxing the people who grow the economy even more, by upping from 90,000 to 150,000 the cap on SS donations. Great, now even more money will be invested overseas, which I thought Hackett didn't want.
Wait, it gets better.
Outsourcing of jobs is corporate welfare. The government is granting subsidies to corporations to take our jobs away.
I am a lawyer and small business owner with five employees—when Hackett Law Offices has a bad month, we don’t fire half the staff and then go crying to the government for a handout.
IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS HOLY!!! OUTSOURCING?!?? OUTSOURCING?!?!?! Is that all you have? What about overtaxation? Hasn't that hurt Ohio's growth? Especially considering that is a big reason why Hyundai decided not to come to Ohio due to taxes. Hmmm...Oh, and check this--dude is a lawyer...hmm..wonder if he learned the John Edwards secret method to avoid paying social security....I bet he is endorsed by the trial lawyers.
OK, I have made up my mind. I am sure Matt will fisk the crap out of Mr. Hackett. I am, with reservations, throwing my support behind Mean Jean Schmidt. Hackett is just too far out of the mainstream, and he is politicizing his brother soldiers for political gain. Shameful, duplicit, and not the Southern Ohio way.
