Bizzyblog has the post up that Schimdt is the winnah for the Ohio 2nd District Republican Primary, and appears heartened by the showing of the GOP voters vs. the dims. However, the Dims are not usually primary voters. They usually come out only when the choice has already been made for them.
I am not very pleased with the results of this. Our friend VikingSpirit, who worked for DeWine, is very upset (see comments in story preceding this one). I agree with Viking, Schmidt talks a good game about cutting taxes and got some good props from PACs, but her record speaks a different story. She is a political hack, and is only interested in power. She sacrificed our tax dollars for her own personal power by voting for the increase in taxes. Remember that.
I do not want a Dim to win, but I do not agree with Bizzy that Schimdt will basically have a walkover. Although, given Schmidt's tactics in the past, I am very sure that she will dig up some dirt or make some up that Hackett was a war criminal who actually worked for the Iraqis. She is very dirty, not very honest, and bloodthirsty. I will seriously listen to Mr. Hackett, but I will tend to vote for Schmidt, because I am not buying the conservatism he is selling. If you look closely behind his rhetoric, you will see tax increases and much more on the horizon. He is deep in bed with big labor and teacher unions, which is not exactly appealing to conservatives.
