FOP Blasts Hackett; Endorses Schmidt

From the Cincinnati Enquirer:
At the FOP's Central Parkway lodge Tuesday, FOP Vice President Keith Fangman, flanked by Schmidt and Cincinnati police officers, said the union representing more than 1,000 Cincinnati police officers did not even consider endorsing Democrat Paul Hackett., who is a lawyer specializing in personal-injury cases.

"He has a track record of filing frivolous and malicious lawsuits against law enforcement officers in Clermont County," Fangman said.

Asked for specifics, Fangman pointed to one case, a 2-year-old lawsuit filed by Hackett on behalf of a female inmate who claimed she was sexually assaulted by a corrections officer at the Clermont County jail. Fangman said Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg supplied the Queen City Lodge with information on Hackett's suit.

The suit, Rodenberg said, "amounted to a whole lot of smoke and no fire." It was dismissed in U.S. District Court about a month ago. The accused corrections officer was suspended while the alleged incident was investigated and ended up quitting his job and moving out of state, Rodenberg said.
Why am I not surprised to learn that Paul Hackett is just like John Edwards. At some point, will we hear stories about Mr. Hackett channelling dead babies too? Will Chris Reeve be healed if Paul Hackett is elected?

Of course, Paul Hackett says he was just representing a client. Because, you know, there is principle in taking money from a client who has no case.

Mark's Remarks

I wonder how Mr. Hackett would feel if we demanded privileged files on the case, containing important and confidential opinions. I am sure he would cite client/lawyer privilege. Of course, libs don't offer quid pro quo for Judge John Roberts when he was working for the Solicitor General's office.

Mr. Hackett has shown himself not to only to be a tax and spend liberal, but an unprincipled, unethical barrister who cares only for the buck and the power.
