Prop. 13 is Coming to Ohio

A great piece in the Hamilton Journal News about the Tax Expenditure Limit (TEL) proposal which Ken Blackwell is leading the effort to get on the ballot. Here is a taste:
If you are tired of seeing the never ending barrage of taxes, you will want to read, understand and support the TEL amendment. The (TEL) Tax Expenditure Limitation initiative petition is being touted as Ohio’s Proposition 13 and is being circulated by the Citizen’s for Tax Reform, led by Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. Among other things, the TEL amendment will amend the Ohio’s constitution to basically limit state and local governments to an annual spending growth of not more than 3.5 percent, or the sum of the rate of inflation plus population growth.
Also covered in the piece is exactly why we need the amendment to the state constitution (John Hancock is cited).

A group will be collecting signatures to put TEL on the ballot at the Fairfield Public Library on Saturday (tomorrow) from 10am until noon.

Mark's Remarks

When the TEL folks come a'calling my way, sign me up. In my home county, the spending by the commissioners has gotten out of control, by both Dems and Republicans. This is an amendment that is not handcuffing the government, it is guiding it.
