"It's a great bumper sticker, but it doesn't do much to help policy."

GOP incumbents are facing primary challenges on the issue of immigration reform. As usual, the establishment GOPers don't get it. And won't until we are attacked again and we find out that the terrorists came in illeagally through one of our borders.

The quote in the title comes from Arizona's Congressman Jeff Flake and is indicative of the status quo nonsense we've been hearing from Washington on this critical issue. Securing out borders isn't a slogan, Congressman, it is a neccessity. If I were a Demcorat, I'd start thinking about ways of attacking Republicans on national security and immigration policy. Fortunately for the Republican establishment, the Democrats are even more nutty on this issue than the Republicans.

Mark's Remarks

Matt hit the nail on the head. You see, the GOP, since it is in the majority, has become like the Dems in the 1980s. It is no longer about a true agenda, it is about maintaining power. Both parties salivate at the burgeoning Latino voting bloc. Both covet that group, as it is growing bigger every day. However, both parties also know that the American people want secure borders, especially LEGAL Latino immigrants. But, since there is always the possibility of being "insensitive" we can't enact reform that must happen to secure our borders. No, we get the crap like the AGJobs bill and that nonsense from Pelosi about giving ILLEGAL immigrants free college!

The Dem way--reward those who break the law and maybe they won't do it anymore....
