On Capitalism, Free Enterprise and Socialism

One of my favorites, Kevin B., has a rare and lengthy but thought-provoking (as always) post that ends with this great bit of prose:
In the case of a large business like Microsoft or Boeing, whose size is reflected by the scale in which they have enhanced the lives of others, liberals/socialists are quick to condemn the massive wealth and greed of the owners, taken from the common man... In the People's Republic of Washington, the socialist solution to the great and greedy evil of Boeing was to tax the cash cow out of profitability. But if those capitalists were so greedy and evil, profiting on the backs of the hapless common worker, wouldn't the people of the state be better off because of Boeing's exit? Ah, but guess who were the first to remind Boeing of their great social responsibility to all the workers in Washington if they were to relocate their headquarters to a more tax-friendly state? And the lie of the pie is revealed...

Rather than taking a bigger piece of the pie and leaving less for the rest, what entrepreneurs really do (even on a small to medium business scale) is create new bakeries, thereby producing an infinite number of pies.
Ahh...that's the stuff!
