Bob Taft is refusing to resign. George Voinovich should be crying now...in outrage and shame at the state of the Republican party in Ohio.
Jason Mauk and Bob Bennett say they got the message from the Schmidt/Hackett race, yet you can't find either one of these guys with a search warrant on the Taft issue. What does it say for '06 when you have a governor who plead NO CONTEST to four misdemeanors, has a 17% approval rating, and won't step down? Are you sure you guys got the message?

Yes, they claim they got the message. However, in talking to my region's rep from the State GOP committee, it seems they did not. All he harped on was it was an August election, people were upset with Taft, itis summer, people had other things to do. MEMO TO STATE GOP: WRONG!!!! It is not about it being too hot to vote! It is about living up to our ideals. It is about setting an agenda and once we are in power, doing something about it. it is about living up to the promises that were made before the elections. it is about doing the job, not enjoying the perks.
Sadly, the Ohio GOP seems, for the most part, to still have its head stuck in the sand, refusing to see the crap they are making of the party. Ladies and gentlemen, only Ken Blackwell can save this party.
He has been the one conservative who seems to still believe in ethics, lower taxes, better oversight, and living up to promises. While Mr. Bennett and Mr. Jason have claimed they have the message, they refuse to even acknowledge the governor pleading no contest to misdemeanors. Nope, instead they are playing the same, build the big tent tune. This is a sad commentary. People in Ohio are not stupid (except those in Cleveland). They will not continue to put up with this crap. If you think you can win simply because the Democrats are inept and insipid and full of it, think again. Conservatives and other Republicans proved with Ohio 2nd that they can simply stay home to send a message. They don't have to defect. That some did should scare the hell out of the GOP and get them to wake up and smell the roses.
To Governor Taft: you self-serving, deluded sack of spit, do the honorable thing. Fall on your rusted sword and quit desecrating the office of Governor. You are a disgrace to your family's name, a disgrace to the principles of Wlm Howard Taft, a disgrace to the guiding principles of the Republican party. Get out now. Quit living in the daze that you think you can smirk your way out of this. It is over. You still have time to save the party you claim to love. Get out now. Otherwise, this state will fall under the Left darkness, not because we want it, but because we don't trust the GOP as much as we used to.
BOB TAFT MUST STEP DOWN! I CALL ON ALL GOP ELECTED OFFICIALS TO BAND TOGETHER AND ASK FOR HIS IMMEDIATE AND PROMPT RESIGNATION. BARRING THAT HAPPENING, I DEMAND SOMEONE ELECTED IN COLUMBUS WITH GUTS TO ASK TO MOVE FORWARD WITH IMPEACHMENT CHARGES.
