Homeland Insecurity Update

The government is suspending plans to check the name of every domestic airline passenger against government watch lists.

The head of the Transportation Security Administration says he's putting the program on hold while investigators look into its information technology system.

Speaking to the Senate Commerce Committee, Kip Hawley didn't say whether any security flaws or breaches had been discovered.

The program called Secure Flight has had its troubles from the start. It's strongly opposed by privacy advocates, who fear it could grow into a massive domestic surveillance system.

And government auditors twice gave the project failing grades.

Nearly four years and 200 (m) million dollars after the program's launch, Hawley said last month the agency hadn't yet determined precisely how the program would work.
Anybody feel like flying? I sure don't...
