Blackwell Endorsed by Ohio's Gun Collectors - Called "A True Friend of Gun Owners"

From the Blackwell campaign via WMD Mailbag:
(Columbus, March 7, 2006) Ohio GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell today announced the endorsement of the Ohio Gun Collectors' Association, Ohio's oldest and largest gun owners group.

Ohio Gun Collectors Association President Joe W. Pittenger praised Blackwell, saying:

For over a decade, The Ohio Gun Collectors Association (OGCA) has had a history of strong mutual respect with gubernatorial candidate J. Kenneth Blackwell. At a time when very few public servants were willing to speak out in defense of 2nd Amendment rights, Ken Blackwell has been steadfast and unyielding on his position. He is a true friend of gun owners and I am confident that he can be counted on to further the rights of gun owners as Ohio's next Governor."

As President of this esteemed, historic Ohio institution, I am pleased to endorse Ken Blackwell for the office of Governor.

Lara Mastin, Chair of Ohioans for Blackwell, "Ken's firm and consistent support of gun owner's rights has earned him their respect and support. We will be pleased to work alongside their 18,000 Ohio members to protect the Second Amendment rights of all Ohio citizens."

Ohio Gun Collectors' Association is Ohio's oldest and largest private gun collecting organization. They are the largest NRA affiliate in Ohio, with 18,000 members statewide.

Less than two weeks after filing for the gubernatorial primary, Blackwell is the clear leader for the GOP nomination, receiving support from 40 out of 54 county organizations that responded to a January, 2006 Ohio Republican Party survey. The Secretary of State also enjoys a ten per cent lead over GOP rival Jim Petro in an independent Ohio Republican Party poll, reported the highest GOP fundraising totals in the last campaign finance period and has a campaign organization with more than 12,000 grassroots supporters statewide.
Why not. Today seems to be press release day here on WMD...

Really, my point in posting this one is to remind everybody that April 15th is Buy A Gun Day...
