It is a useful tool that rejects the status quo as well as the agenda of more government spending that congressional Democrats want desperately to protect. It is important that any proposal give the President real authority to eliminate worthless pork in the budget and meet the test of Constitutionality as well. As Republicans move forward on putting together a responsible budget, we will be discussing this issue as a Conference."I find it interesting that the Republicans are finally interested in doing this... Yes, by the time they get it done, it will probably be a democrat president. As usual, great timing by the GOP leadership....
The line item veto should be used to eliminate all this pork going on. It has worked in several states, and can be used effectively. I am hoping it gets done and maybe we will see GWB use a line item veto pen, even if he can't seem to find his full veto pen.
