As with most political intrigue, it appears that the facts were not up to the supposition. When people speculate a couple months in advance, this is bound to happen. Remember all the wondering about what Kerry's October surprise was going to be? nada.
McEwen's surprise is that he actually is running again. This guy, the more I look at his record and his associations with seedy "pyramind" selling schemes, the more his pithy little grin makes me ill. I encourage more people to check out the truth about Bob McEwen as covered across most of the SOB alliance and see him for the hack and politico he is. It is not about his concern for Ohio, it is about the avarice of his own ego. He wants a different legacy than Bouncin' Bob. Let's hope he doesn't get it.
