Making an appearance in the idiot column this week is radio talk show host Sean Hannity, with an assist by our own US Congress. Why, you ask? Well, you see, the truth behind this entire ports deal protest was not about security or a foreign company owning our ports, or a foreign company running our ports. If that were truly the case, then we should go after the Chinese Communists next who own our ports. No, the real deal behind this is money. How so? Well, now that DPW has pulled out, one of the two American companies vying for control of those six ports is a heavy giver to one of the biggest "adversaries" to the original ports deal, Senator Menendez. Just look at this post. It has all the info, and here is a website that lists all the political contributions in NJ.
If you notice, Maher, the lead co. vying to get control of the DPW ports, gave Menendez hundreds of thousands of dollars for his campaign. They also give money to several other democrats who have opposed this deal.
Another blogger had this great entry showing that IN FACT there was no security risk, as the port authority of the respective areas would still run security.
However, that did not stop Sean Hannity from blubbering away about port security and causing the President embarrassment and driving a wedge in conservative circles by playing on xenophobia. In other words, they played right into democrat hands. If Sean and his rude staff would actually research instead of engaging in publicity stunt events with the likes of Jerry Springer, then maybe they would actually get one right. See, Sean, that is why you will always be no.2, and a tenuous no. 2 at best.
