DeWine in Trouble?

In a word, yes.

Check out the latest from Zogby (thanks Bizzy!).

Ohio Senator 10-31-05 1-13-06 3-27-06
Brown (D) 40% 41% 46%
DeWine* (R) 37% 37% 37%

Zogby sucks as a pollster, so let's not read too much in to this... I mean check this out:
In the race for governor, both leading Democrats enjoyed leads over their Republican counterparts. Democratic Congressman Ted Strickland leads Republican Ken Blackwell, the secretary of state, by six points – 47% to 41% - and leads GOP state Attorney General James Petro, 46% to 31%.

Democrat Brian Flannery, a former state representative, holds small advantages over both Blackwell and Petro.
I mean, Strickland I MIGHT buy, but FLANNERY??? No way that's right...

Zogby has a history of producing polls that suck. And his track record in Ohio is even worse.

But should Mike DeWine be a bit afraid of these results. You betcha. And it looks like he is... He's sponsoring legislation to "re-legalize" the wiretapping (although I think that's silly, it was already leagal) and he's putting up the Marriage Amendment. He's pretending to be a conservative again. Why? Because he knows he's in trouble with his base. The bad news for DeWine? He's not only ticking off his base, but the so-called moderates aren't real happy with his latest actions either...
