Gingrich

I was just catching up on my National Review blog reading and caught this item on TKS about Newt Gingrich:
Theory: Almost no one actually wants Newt Gingrich to run for president; almost every conservative hungering for big ideas and concrete policy proposals wants him to be the Republican primaries' debate moderator.
That's about how I feel about Gingrich running for president... His role should be elder statesman, not standard bearer... He is an amazing intellect and a dazzling speaker, but his baggage will not make it through the screeners any time soon... I see Gingrich as this generation's Barry Goldwater...
