Boehner Calls on House & Senate Democrats to Allow Votes on Funding Troops in the Field

Via email:
U.S. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) released a statement today expressing disappointment in a decision by Senate Democrats to refuse a vote on a GOP measure stating that Congress will not cut off funding for American troops serving in harm's way:
"It's a shame that on the day after trying to shut off debate on the Iraq war, Senate Democrats have now refused to allow a vote on a resolution stating that Congress will not cut off funding for troops in harm's way.

"I hope House Democrats will allow the House to take a more open approach on this issue. Victory in Iraq is not only critical, it is the most important issue facing our country today and it deserves a full and thorough discussion in Congress."
Boehner is an original co-sponsor of legislation (H.R. 511) authored by Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) to ensure the Congress does not cut off or restrict funding for America 's troops who are in a combat zone.
