X-ray images taken from a new international spacecraft show that the sun's magnetic field is much more turbulent than scientists knew, NASA reported Wednesday. What? We were wrong about something? I thought we knew everything about the sun! I thought we had learned everything there was to learn about it and it was settled, you know, kind of like global warming. If our previous thoughts on the sun can be made wrong, can't the so-called consensus on global warming be wrong? I mean, there once was a consensus that putting leeches on people could cure anything, that colds were caused by bad chemicals in the blood that had to be bled out. That was settled, too. We learn new things everyday which change perceptions, but somehow, not global warming.
"'For the first time, we are now able to make out tiny granules of hot gas that rise and fall in the sun's magnetized atmosphere,' said Dick Fisher, director of NASA's Heliophysics Division. 'It's going to put us in a whole new realm of understanding,'"
That is wrong! Al Gore said this week that all science was settled. Hmmm......interesting....
These images will open a new era of study on some of the sun's processes that affect Earth, astronauts, orbiting satellites and the solar system
Could these magnetic fields and turbulence have an effect on Earth's temperature? Might it not just be all the fault of us humans with our SUVs? Hmm?
Scientists hope the observations can help explain and perhaps predict space weather -- the ejections from the sun that can disable satellites, knock out electricity grids on Earth and cause the spectacular auroras in extreme northern and southern skies
And to think, this was thought to be Impossible, the sun issue was thought to be settled....until we learned something new. But, science is all settled on global warming, too, isn't it?
