Boehner Statement Opposing Democrats’ “Slow-Bleed” Strategy to Choke Off Funding for America ’s Troops

Via email:
Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the following statement today after House Democrats approved the “slow-bleed” strategy designed to undermine our generals and hamstring our troops in the Global War on Terror:
“After two months and two dozen flailing attempts, the Democrats’ anti-troop bill passed – and died – at the same time today. This bill will never become law, and that’s a good sign for our troops who are fighting every day to protect the safety and security of the American people.

“Unlike their non-binding resolution earlier this year, the Democrats are not just sending our troops a message of defeat – today the Democrats approved policies that will ensure defeat. The Democrats’ ‘slow-bleed’ strategy undermines our generals and hamstrings our troops in harm’s way. It is an obscene piece of legislation, passed through a disgraceful process – a process in which the needs of our troops in the field took a back seat to politicians’ need for pork.”

“There is still time to do what’s right and pass a clean bill to support our troops. The President has announced he will veto this legislation should it reach his desk. Republicans will continue to fight for a clean bill that provides our generals and soldiers the resources they need to succeed, without tying their funding to arbitrary restrictions or pork-barrel projects.”
