Reid: Pork and Run Makes America "More Safe"

From PR/US Newswire:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada released the following statement following the House of Representatives' passage of the Supplemental Appropriations Bill.
"I salute the House of Representatives for passing legislation that maximizes our chances for success in Iraq and redeploys our troops so we can more effectively wage the war on terror. Implementing the binding policies set forth in this bill will make America more secure. The Democrats and Republicans who voted for this bill understand that the Iraq war can be won only politically, not militarily. This bill, and the one the Senate will debate next week, offer a responsible strategy that reflects what the American people asked for in November -- redeploying our troops out of Iraq and refocusing our resources to more effectively fight the war on terror.

"The Democratic-controlled Congress is listening to the American people and fighting to give our troops the resources they need and a strategy worthy of their sacrifices. Unfortunately, President Bush and too many congressional Republicans are not -- they continue to repeat their tired rhetoric and pursue a failed policy.

"Democrats will continue to press President Bush to listen to the American people and change course."
I have no idea what world Harry Reid is living in, but on my planet surrendering doesn't make the country safer... And let's not forget that Nancy Pelosi had to buy a significant number of votes...
