More Craziness for Butler County GOP

Our friends at the Butler County GOP are going to have serious problems paying off the bill for their palatial headquarters if more Republican candidates continue to withdraw their financial support.

The latest debacle involves a Republican candidate for county commission, Rawnica Dillingham, and her sponsorship of a hole at the Butler County GOP golf event scheduled for May 14th at the Wetherington Golf Club.

The Hamilton Journal-News picks up the story:
Dillingham wanted her sponsor signs to read "Rawnica Dillingham for Commissioner — The Real Republican," according to an e-mail Ellis sent her last Wednesday. Ellis wrote that the slogan was "inappropriate" for the event and offered to print her signs without "The Real Republican" slogan.

"We, of course, would not treat Rawnica any differently than anyone else," Ellis said Wednesday. "We would never permit something that we would deem inappropriate with respect to the other people at a private event that we are having, such as our golf outing."

Ellis and GOP Executive Director Scott Owens said in the past campaign messages or slogans like Dillingham's have not generally appeared on sponsor signs — only the candidate's name and the office being sought.
Owens can describe the situation as "unfortunate" all he likes, but the reality is that the party in Butler County appears to be fracturing under his leadership.

The Fairfield Republican blog has nothing on the story. Nothing at the Butler County GOP MySpace page. Zip, zero, nada at the Butler County GOP website as well. It's like the Butler County GOP would like to pretend that this situation isn't happening. I'm signed up for email updates from the Butler County GOP and haven't received a single email from the county party.

Of course, I'm eager to publish something...anything...from the Butler County GOP that would help address these issues. Officials from the Butler County GOP can email me at wmdtvmatt - at - yahoo - dot - com.
