Tiffin, Ohio - Congressman Paul Gillmor (R-Tiffin) announced today that the Honorable Rob Portman will be the featured speaker at the annual Fifth District Lincoln-Hayes Banquet. Portman will speak at the banquet at Bowling Green State University's Bowen-Thompson Student Union on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 7:00 pm.

The Honorable Rob Portman is currently the highest ranking Ohioan in the White House. Mr. Portman has served in the President’s cabinet in various capacities including as the U.S. Trade Representative after serving as a Congressman for Ohio’s Second District. While in Congress, Mr. Portman served as Chairman of the House Republican Leadership and liaison between the House Leadership and the White House. Among his many legislative accomplishments, Mr. Portman authored significant laws on issues ranging from curtailing unfunded federal mandates to the first comprehensive reform of the Internal Revenue Service in 50 years.
Paul Gillmor is serving in his tenth term representing Northwest Ohio’s Fifth District in Congress. He currently serves on the Financial Services Committee where he is the top Republican on the Financial Institutions Subcommittee. He is also the Vice President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Prior to his election to Congress, Mr. Gillmor served 22 years in the Ohio Senate including five terms as Republican Leader and three General Assemblies as Senate President. Congressman Gillmor is an Air Force veteran and is married to Karen L. Gillmor, a former State Senator who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Employment Relations Board. The Gillmors have two daughters, Linda and Julie, and three sons, Paul Michael, and twins Connor and Adam.
The Lincoln-Hayes Banquet is a low-cost, grassroots event hosted annually by Congressman Paul Gillmor.
