Butler County Treasurer Update

One of the candidates for the county treasurer job has dropped out and you absolutely won't believe the reason why he did. The Cincinnati Enquirer has the story:
Hamilton attorney David Davidson withdrew his candidacy from the vacant Butler County treasurer post on Tuesday, saying a dozen GOP Central Committee members were improperly removed from their elected positions.
...
Davidson said he had resigned as the Central Committee parliamentarian to seek the treasurer position. He said the members' removal has tainted the appointment process.
What is interesting is that it appears these are the same folks who were removed awhile back...
The Butler County Republican Party advised the county Board of Elections in February that the members didn't meet the party's requirements to hold the positions, County GOP Executive Chairman Tom Ellis said.

The party is seeking a clarification of an Ohio secretary of state's opinion that the members' status should be decided by local party officials according to party bylaws, Ellis added.

Until then, the 12 members will remain on the committee, Ellis said.
So, this guy resigns his position to run for treasurer only to quit because some people were thrown off the committee before he resigned. Something about this story doesn't "scan"...
