Rawnica Returns Fire to Amend

From the Middletown Journal:
Recently, businessman Greg Amend withdrew his bid for county commissioner to throw his support behind my opponent. That's fine. That's what a democracy is all about. However, in doing so, he made personal attacks against me.

Mr. Amend said that I was not qualified to run for dog catcher. He's right. Neither is he or my opponent. Mr. Amend should research the requirements.

Could it be that Mr. Amend is afraid of women who hold leadership positions? Some men are threatened by women who possess the skills to get things done.

It was Mr. Amend's sole prerogative to determine the fact that he is not fit for public office. I see that as being a very poor reason to demonstrate such shallow values and degrade women. Such a small-minded man has no place in public service.

Someone like Mr. Amend would have been informed of that very fact on Election Day, as the public would never have tolerated such vicious personal attacks and would have made it quite clear that he was simply not suited to be a public servant.

Mr. Amend was untruthful to reporter Candice Higgins as to his reasons for deciding to avoid me during this campaign. Mr. Amend and his associates have business that will be coming before the commission, which can be very profitable to him and his partners ...

For now, I am happy to be 5 percent in front of my opponent, and if makes my opponent happy to be supported by a man who gets a thrill out of minimizing the role women play in government, then so be it.

One last point, Mr. Amend: Butler County has a chief animal control officer, who happens to be a woman and does a very fine job.

The more I learn about Mr. Amend, the more I think he'd fit right in with the COASTer crowd over in OH-02... I know there is a Fairfield branch, maybe he's a member...
