Life Means Life

Matt Dole has a very interesting story worth checking out today about a murderer who got a life sentence who is now eligible for parole. This is why I support having the death penalty, to be honest. With the death penalty on the books, life sentences are more likely to be life sentences. Check out the story here and be sure to sign the petition, if you are so inclined, here.

Mark's Remarks

In one of the books I have started but haven't finished, City on a Hill, Michael Reagan talks about this issue in a law and order chapter. What we really need are truth in sentencing guidelines, and more 3 strikes and you're out type policies. Also, we need to take out the loopholes for liberal judges to play with that lead to cases like the one in Dole's article. Also, the appeals process is too long. And, why is it most prisons boast more amenities than the average American can afford--law libraries, better than basic cable, weight rooms, medical facilities. Whatever happened to prisons being, I don't know, prisons?
