Over the weekend, we heard from a family whose daughter was required to show additional proof (beyond a photo ID and proof of having applied for a passport) by the airline she was traveling on. I was hoping that your publication might run a brief encouraging people traveling to Canada , Mexico , the Caribbean and Bermuda by air to contact their airlines to see if the airline is requiring additional documents.Now you know and knowing is half the battle. Mission accomplished...

Travelers can go to www.travel.state.gov [Link] to get information from the State Department on the requirements and how/where to apply for a passport. Or, they can call 877-487-2778, which is the National Passport Information Center. Boehner’s office continues to be available to answer questions and to help travelers running up against a deadline.
