Sitting next to him, 21-year-old Leanne Clarke, agreed, adding that "without this, I don't think they can do it."
The pair, wearing Live earth bandanas, said they were "quite worried about the planet" and hoped the global concerts had a similar impact to the Live 8 concerts two years ago
Yes, and the way to do something is to sit out in the Sun for several hours, using up more of the Sun than we should...didn't they see that German study talking about how we use up too much of the Sun??? And it just gets me, that they are willing to accept the "do as I say not as I do" garbage of these holier than thou purveyors of junk science. Kevin Smith is wrong.....brits are not as intelligent as he says in his video. You know what will help even more than those bandanas and the music? I think what will really affect the issue is getting a ribbon made of it...because, as we all know, those ribbons have really cured AIDs and breast cancer, haven't they?
Organisers hope the gigs will "make climate change sexy", according to Steve Howard, the founder of the "We're In This Together" environmental campaign.
"We hopefully will capture their hearts and minds on climate change," he told AFP, speaking of the crowds packing out stadiums around the world, and the two billion people expected to be watching on television and over the Internet.
Wait, I thought capturing hearts and minds was naivete? Or is that only in something we can do something about with real evidence of danger, like the War On Terror? Give me a break....This wasn't about a calculated investment, it IS about arrogance. We the rich artists can do what we want, because we are telling you the little people how to live your lives and giving you the privilege of hearing us preach. Give me a friggin' break. But wait, the double talk gets better. I give you, the Hollow Man, Al Gore, Jr.:
Live Earth organiser Al Gore, former US vice president turned green campaigner, answered criticism of Live Earth's stars in British newspaper The Independent on Saturday.
"We are in a transition time in history when the only way we can get to where we need to be is by starting from where we are," he said
HUH? I think Al Gore needs to buy some serious carbon credits to offset the emissions from the bull***t he just spewed....
And then there is this justification for having the concert:
Jayme Fine, 32, said fans could take measures to compensate for the energy used at the concerts.
"People leaving their lights on at home when nobody's there is going to eat up electricity," he said.
"If we all just remember to shut those off, it's OK for us to have an event like this."
Why do we listen to these people?
