ProgressOhio and West Wing Update

Well, this is interesting... Previously on WMD, we ran an email from a reader questioning whether or not a post on ProgressOhio might have been plucked from and episode of The West Wing.

Here is the response, in the comments, from Dave Harding to the questions posed by my email correspondent:

With respect to this post and the questions posed by Mr. Hurley:

Different forms of this email have been widely circulated on the internet since at least the year 2000 and the original author remains unknown, therefore apparently placing the many forms of the original email within the public domain and within the usage guidelines of Fair Use. The "carrots" throughout the post clearly identify the body of the post as being copied from an email which was then adapted for the purposes of this post.

It's our opinion therefore, that WMD is making much ado about nothing.

Bluefish: Blogging is all about interaction. I've been called out on a plenty of things before, and I always look at it as a chance improve when someone questions something I wrote. Keep on blogging...that's what I encourage anybody and everybody who has taken up the keyboard to do.
