Statement from Latta on Ohio Election Commission Decision

This just in...
“Today, Steve Buehrer validated our mail piece by saying that he has no public position on teacher-led voluntary school prayer, and posting the Ten Commandments in schools. Our campaign first got this information from a survey that was in the public domain.

Today, under oath, Steve Buehrer and his campaign manager have admitted that Steve Buehrer’s Project Vote Smart survey from 2002 was not a mistake.

I was under the impression that you were either “for” or “against” an issue. Obviously, Steve Buehrer lacks the leadership necessary to make up his mind on these important issues. We regret using the word “oppose” and we should have used the words “did not support”.

After talking to our legal counsel, we have decided to appeal this decision and will ask the Ohio Elections Commission to stay their reprimand.

Furthermore, we are filing yet another elections commission complaint on the Buehrer campaign for distorting my record on the abortion issue. Despite what Steve Buehrer says, I am 100% pro-life. A mail piece he used to attack me was despicable and shameful, and our campaign is filing a complaint against him. Earlier this month, Steve Buehrer was found guilty of lying about my record, and now he is doing it again.”
