What is Important to Congress?

I'm working without my notes (left them at work -- I'll try to update this post tomorrow), so don't hold me to these quotes. I had the opportunity to listen in on a conference call for bloggers today with Reps. Eric Cantor and Adam Putnam.

The takeaway is that the Republican conference has two priorities as the year winds down to a close. The most important issue is the full funding of our troops in the war on terror. The second is to fix the AMT.

I think it was Cantor who said that you can't fund a war on layaway (12/13 UPDATE: The actual quote was that "you can't secure victory on layaway.") and that is exactly right. Congress needs to support the troops by funding what they need to win. Harry Reid is wrong, the war is winnable and our men and women deserve the opportunity to finish the job and come home with their honor intact and with a victory.

When the American people are unable to get their tax returns on time because of Democrat's playing games, their approval ratings will go even lower than it is already. The AMT is antiquated legislation and needs to be dispensed with...

We know what Congressional Republicans think is important...let's see what the Democratic leadership has in mind, shall we?
