Statzer Not Interested

I have heard from a source close to Joe Statzer who has indicated that he is not interested in replacing Kay Rogers as Auditor.

I promised a look at motivations behind some of these rumors and let's now turn our attention to one possible explanation for Joe Statzer's name being mentioned. This is not something I had considered, but this scandal is not occuring in a vaccuum. This is a political season with a primary occurring in just a few days.

Joe Statzer also works on the campaign for Paul Nenni (whom WMD has endorsed of the 53rd Ohio House seat). Could a supporter one of Nenni's primary opponents be attempting to drag Statzer in to it because it might smear Nenni? It is possible...but unlikely. Knowing that Statzer is on Team Nenni requires a level of knowledge of local politics that I would have to consider "way inside baseball" in order to work as a strategy.

Let's take a look at another name we've been hearing... Nancy Nix. Nix is currently the Treasurer and the "idea" is to move her to the Auditor's office and appoint Don Spurlock -- who apparently has "baggage" issues of his own -- in to the Treasurer's position. All at the behest of Hamilton "power brokers" whomever those might be...

Roger Reynolds is actively making phone calls and courting votes. He was the endorsed candidate that lost to Kay Rogers in the primary last time.

Lastly, State Rep. Courtney Combs has been mentioned due to the fact that he will facing term limits soon and will need to move to a different position if he wishes to remain active in politics.
