Taxin' Ted, the Federal Budget, and Your Grandchildren

No, I am not promoting the next epsode of the Jerry Springer Show... I want to have a serious discussion about some serious damage about to be enacted on our wallets.

The chart I am excerpting below can be found at the Heritage Foundation site here and is MUCH easier to read (Blogger REALLY needs to add a Table function to its arsenal).

At any rate, the point that they, and I, are making is this: if the Demcorats budget passes, YOU and I are going to be paying more taxes, our communities will be losing more jobs, and our economy will be in serious trouble. But don't take my word for it, here is how the Heritage Foundation tells this story:
An analysis of the House Budget Resolution for FY 2009 (H.CON.RES.312) reveals that the U.S. economy will suffer huge losses in gross domestic product (GDP), job creation and personal income if implemented. Analysts at the Center for Data Analysis estimated the economic costs of the budget resolution by looking at the combined effects of provisions contained within the legislation along with the effects of allowing the Bush Tax Cuts of 2001 and 2003 to expire. The House’s budget could cause a loss of more than $100 billion in GDP in 2012 and could also reduce job creation by over 1 million jobs that year. Furthermore, as a result of the House budget, every taxpayer can expect to pay, on average, more than $2,000 in taxes in 2012, while also losing an average of $1,767 in personal income.
Here are Ohio's numbers:

Let me pull out the numbers for the Eighth Congressional District since that is the home of Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner... In OH-08, we have a 2006 population of 651,916 of which 321,809 people are employed in the non-farming sector of the economy. We will pay, on average $1,571 MORE in taxes in 2012 while making $1,494 less all thanks to Democrats. Our district will lose an estimated 2,199 jobs and our local economies will lose an estimated $213,000,000.

Now, let's add in what Governor "Taxin'" Ted Strickland wants... Let's remember that he wants to take out a bond to the tune of millions of dollars. That's real savings passed on to us? Nope. Our children? Probably not. Our grandchildren? More than likely... Strickland ran on a platform called "Turn Around Ohio" yet the only "new" idea we've seen from him is to tax the bejesus out of generation of Ohioans that isn't even out of diapers yet...

And when the conservatives and Republicans vote this thing down, we'll hear from the usual suspects about how out of touch we are and how uncompassionate we are when all we want is to make sure that future generations are not burdened with our mistakes.

Have a pleasant day...

UPDATE: Feel free to add this to your tax bill as well... (AP News Alert)
WASHINGTON (AP) The Democratic-controlled Senate has rejected the idea of extending all of President Bush's tax cuts after he leaves office.
UPDATE 2: Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- says it better than most:
“For the second straight year Democrats have produced a budget that has the largest tax increase in American history in and more wasteful Washington spending and no entitlement reform. Republicans are fighting for a smaller, more accountable government with lower taxes and this budget debate that we’re having is really -- it’s about as straightforward as they come: Do you think Washington ought to have more of your money, or less? And do you think Washington -- the government here ought to be getting bigger, spending more of your money, or less? And so, I think given what’s going on in the economy, the last thing the American family wants to do is give more of their hard- earned money to the federal government.”
And if you wish to hear the dulcit tones of Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- speaking these very words, you can do so by clicking here.

UPDATE 3: Earlier it was the Senate, now the House agreeing with them:
WASHINGTON (AP) The Democratic-controlled House has rejected the idea of extending President Bush's tax cuts after he leaves office.
...but there is good news: apparently, I'm rich! And more than likely, so are you...

Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner:
“American families and small businesses are feeling the strain from rising costs of living. The prices of gasoline, health care, food, education, and home mortgages are soaring. But unfortunately, the Majority’s budget does nothing to help alleviate their problems. Instead, it makes them worse.

“The centerpiece of the Majority’s budget is the largest tax increase in American history. It has higher taxes for everyone: single filers, married couples, families with children, small businesses, family farmers, entrepreneurs, job-providers, and investors. And what makes this massive tax hike more disturbing is that it forces taxpayers to pay for even more wasteful Washington spending.

“I’m also troubled that the Majority’s budget does nothing – zero – to address the looming entitlement crisis we have on our hands. Medicare and Social Security are headed for bankruptcy. But this budget ignores this oncoming tsunami altogether. Some say that this priority can wait until the next Congress, but I believe they’re wrong. The time is now to start reforming and protecting Social Security and Medicare for future generations of seniors.

“I’m disappointed that the Majority turned back our Republican budget alternative. It would keep us on track to balance the budget without raising taxes on American families and small businesses. It would include a long-overdue earmark freeze and would establish a panel aimed at fixing the broken earmark system. And it would take on the looming entitlement crisis, while the Majority’s budget stays silent.”
Just remember that it was the Democrats...and George RINOvich (and Olympia Snowe)...who are raising YOUR taxes...

UPDATE 4: AP News Alert:
WASHINGTON (AP) The House has approved a budget blueprint that would allow taxes to rise by $683 billion over the next five years while boosting domestic spending.
Wow! A 527 media outlet played it straight for once... I'm speechless...
