Boehner Statement on the President’s Remarks on Climate Change

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement after President Bush made remarks on climate change:

“House Republicans stand ready to work with the current President and future Presidents, as well as our Democratic counterparts in Congress, to advance responsible policies that will create jobs and promote clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. We are equally prepared to reject policies that will destroy jobs or limit freedom for American families.

“The way in which we approach the issue of climate change will have significant implications for our nation’s future. We can approach it with reckless, controversial policies that destroy jobs, limit freedom, and fail to yield tangible, measurable environmental benefits. Or we can work together to advance responsible policies that will protect our environment, advance our energy security, and promote conservation while promoting freedom and creating jobs, instead of destroying them. House Republicans are committed to the latter approach.”
