The big news of the night was the re-election of Judy Shelton over Chris Wunnenberg 117 to 74 for Central Chair.
Tom Ellis was unanimously re-elected as Executive Chair.
In Fairfield regional committee news, incumbent chair Scott Lepsky was defeated by challenger Don Carpenter in a battle of bloggers. Another "big" name taking a hit tonight was Joe Statzer, who lost his position on the Screening Committee, Executive member; he was chosen as Second Alternate for that job though.
A common theme tonight was unifying the party in the face of the challenges to come. It is no secret that the Democrats are coming for us. I have heard a rumor that if the Democrats can find the "right" candidate, that the state party may be willing to sink some money in to the race come November. I have already heard some vicious stories regarding baseless ethics charges being filed by local Democrats against Commissioner Chuck Furmon. (The hilarious thing about that is that Ohio's Eliot Spitzer -- Marc Dann -- 's office...of all people...would field that complaint.)
All in all, it was a night of a few surprises, but most things went about as I expected it would. The best part is that nobody tried to kill me...so, I have that going for me...which is nice.
Tune in next time when we appoint a County Auditor...and I'll have plenty to say about that in coming days...
UPDATE 1: Yeah, Josh, I'm talking to you. THIS is garbage. And, oh yeah, you can bet that when I get a moment, I'll shred that crap right in to a million pieces.
