Let's get to the details:
On Wednesday, April 23, an agent requested an armful of copies of deeds and records pertaining to Fox's home at 6109 Creekside Way in Hamilton, according to Chief Deputy Recorder Denise Goll. Are we seeing the beginning of the end of Mike Fox and his crooked cronies? Perhaps... I mean, I certainly hope so. Every story on Dynus refers to Mike Fox as the "driving force" behind the deal, so it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that we are finally starting to see the other shoe drop.
The agent balked when Goll asked him to pay $86 for the certified copies, she said, though he eventually got it for free by having the Butler County Prosecutor's Office request the records.
This comes in the midst of an ongoing investigation into the county's dealings with Dynus Corp. The investigation has already led County Auditor Kay Rogers to resign after pleading guilty to bank fraud in the case, as well as an unrelated charge of tax evasion. Both charges are felonies.
The FBI is mum on whether Fox is implicated in the probe. "I can't confirm or deny any type of investigation on that individual," said FBI Spokesman Mike Brooks.
I'm going to ask around and see if I can get any official comments on the story, but I wouldn't expect to hear anything "official" until (notice I did not say "if") the FBI releases the details of their investigation.
Here is the usual denial from Fox:
Fox said his conscience is clean on the issue: "They (the FBI) said their investigation of Dynus is ongoing and I would suspect they would do a thorough job of investigating everybody that was in office at that time," he said.Didn't Kay Rogers say something like that too?
Here's the thing, though. We need to get this investigation wrapped up soon. We need to weed out the rotten apples and get back to the business of governing. Dragging this thing out does nothing but give the Democrats cover to run their smear campaign against all Republicans. I think we ought to demand that justice be served swiftly and firmly. Seriously, this thing has been going on for years now...let's get on with it already.
MEDIA BIAS NOTE: Take special notice that there wasn't any mention of Ron Waldrup's legal troubles in Josh's story...apparently that was irrelevant. Note to Josh's Editors: Waldrup lives in Butler County and is a politician...that's all the relevance your paper needed to drop Republican names in to the Waldrup piece.
