Joe Biden is Change We Can Believe In?

In the dead of the night, for some reason, Barack Obama let loose with the "news" that he had selected Slow Joe Biden as his running mate. If there is anybody left who still thinks that Obama represents some "new" brand of politics, this pick ought to remove that notion right quick.

In a statement released this morning, Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- had this to say in response:
“Americans looking for a pair of candidates who are ready to fix a broken Washington aren’t going to find them on the Obama / Biden ticket. In Joe Biden, Barack Obama has not only found a running mate who doesn’t believe he’s ready to be President, he’s proven his opposition to an ‘All of the Above’ energy reform strategy to lower fuel costs for families and small businesses.

“John McCain’s comprehensive energy reform plan is supported by a broad and bipartisan majority of Americans who are tired of struggling with high gas prices and soaring utility bills. And he’s taken the bold step of calling on Speaker Pelosi to bring Congress back from its break to vote on House Republicans’ American Energy Act. McCain is a real reformer and the only candidate in this race who is ready to lead.”
According to The News Journal, Biden referred to deep ocean energy exploration far off our coasts as “as an eleventh-hour ‘rape’ of ocean resources.” A recent Wall Street Journal / NBC News survey found broad support among voters for the GOP “All of the Above” energy strategy, including 63 percent in favor of exploring deep ocean energy zones.

And here is Biden speaking on Barack Obama and John McCain...

Patrick Ruffini dug up the audio of Biden calling Obama bright, articulate and clean and has links to all the usual suspects who despised him for it right up until the moment when The One chose him to be Vice Messiah.

Good times ahead, my friends...so, get ready for lots of the patented Tooth Flash, lots of gibberish; and these aren't the droids you were looking for...

UPDATE: Let's see here, we got MBNA, plagiarism, testy exchanges with "normal" people, and other various "inaccuracies". We're just getting started, folks...

Peter Robinson makes an excellent point here:
Before winning election to the Senate three-and-a-half decades ago—Biden ranks fourth in seniority among Democrats, sixth overall; how's that for a fresh face?—Biden practiced law for three years. That's it. Three years of fresh-out-of-law school practice represents the sum and total of Biden's profession experience before joining the Senate.

Obama-Biden? A candidate with an astonishingly thin professional background—Community organizer? Desultory lecturer in law school?—has just named as his running mate a man whose principal professional achievement is to have perfected his skills as a gasbag.
Oh, and by the way, Slow Joe Biden is up for re-election in his Senate seat. Will he do the honorable thing and give that up? Or will he hedge his bets and run both campaigns simultaneously?

UPDATE 2: AP News Alert:
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) Obama says Biden is "a leader who is ready to step in and be president."
Sure he is...too bad the top of the ticket isn't.
