CANTON - John Boccieri continues to associate himself with corrupt political figures and Washington insiders.
The Democrat candidate, who registered to vote in the 16th Congressional District just 15 days ago, attended a fundraiser in New York City Wednesday night, hosted by Charlie Rangel. Rangel's Victory Fund raised money for 10 targeted Democrat congressional candidates.
While Boccieri was rubbing elbows with someone who is under investigation for allegedly violating Congressional rules of conduct, Republican Kirk Schuring was campaigning in his district.
"Again, this shows Mr. Boccieri's penchant for aligning himself with Washington insiders and ignoring the interests of the good people of our district," Schuring said this morning.
"Today Mr. Boccieri is quoted in a newspaper story about outside groups buying radio ads, 'I'm asking voters to reject this brand of politics and embrace change.' He should practice what he preaches," PJ Wenzel, Schuring's campaign manager, said.
In the same (Akron) Beacon Journal story, Schuring struck a clear contrast with his opponent by reiterating his earlier call for outside groups to stay out of this campaign.
"They often have things wrong and are not reflective of the district."
