Group representing 20,000 physicians, residents, and medical students say Widener is best choice

SPRINGFIELD, OH (07/25/08) - The Ohio State Medical Association PAC (OSMAPAC) has announced its endorsement of Chris Widener, candidate for the Ohio Senate.

"Chris Widener's knowledge and positions on the issues that affect Ohio's physician community, patient population and our health care delivery system is impressive," said Tim Maglione of the OSMAPAC. "He understands the complications in our health care delivery system, and will work to reduce the burdens that interfere with the patient-physician relationship."

"I am pleased to continue to receive support from Ohio's Health Care community," Widener said. "Health care is an issue that affects all Ohio residents." The Ohio State Medical Association represents 20,000 physicians, residents, and medical students across the state of Ohio and all medical specialties. It is affiliated with the American Medical Association on the national level and county medical societies on the local level.

Widener is a licensed architect and has owned his own firm for more than 18 years. Prior to starting his own business he was the first full-time Historic Preservation Officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and served as a civil service architect.

Widener currently represents Madison County and portions of Clark and Greene Counties in his fourth term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. As a legislator, he worked to cut personal income taxes by 21 percent, provided much needed prescription drug coverage for 1.4 million Ohio seniors without any additional costs to taxpayers and helped pass a state budget with the lowest growth in spending in nearly half a century.
