“I want to thank Chairman Robert Bennett for his 21 years of service at the helm of the Ohio Republican Party. Throughout his tenure, Bob has been a tremendous force in Ohio politics. He re-invigorated down-and-out Republicans with his energy and enthusiasm, and grew our party by bringing together Ohioans who share a belief in smaller and more accountable government; freedom and personal responsibility; and the entrepreneurial spirit.Wow...that is some statement... "[S]maller and more accountable government; freedom and personal responsibility; and the entrepreneurial spirit." Really? Can't say that I agree with that assessment of what the Ohio GOP has done the last 20 years... I would agree that the Ohio GOP under Bennett's leadership talked about a lot of those things, but then turned around and gave us the CAT Tax, more government, and even more nanny statism.
“Bob also worked hard to show voters that Republicans are the party of solutions for working families and small businesses. And he built a superior grassroots operation that has continually mobilized support for Republican candidates up and down the ballot. His record of success speaks for itself.
“I am confident that under the leadership of our new Chairman, Kevin DeWine, the Ohio Republican Party will build on Chairman Bennett’s legacy. I look forward to working with Chairman DeWine to continue to grow our party and promote solutions to the very real challenges facing the Buckeye State.”
Maybe I'm just not in the spirit of this thing... Personally, my thoughts on Bob Bennett can best be described as "Thanks, Bob, don't let the door hit ya on the @$$ on the way back to Cleveland." But that's me... I've never been a "fan" of Bob...or the mess he made of the Ohio GOP.
Don't get me wrong, Bob and George Voinovich did a lot in the early days, but it is my opinion that both of these guys have overstayed their welcome.
Your mileage may vary...but if you're reading this site, it probably doesn't.
