Earlier today, I wrote on Twitter that I had been hearing from third hand sources close to Mary Taylor hinting that she might throw her hat in to the right for US Senate. As we all know, Rob Portman pretty much has that race locked up on the GOP side due to his huge fundraising advantage. But Mary Taylor is a good candidate for further development in a statewide race having managed to be the only Republican left standing in Columbus.
Aside from the fact that most Ohio Republicans want Mary Taylor to stay in Columbus as Auditor (she's super qualified and doing a fantastic job), there is also the political issue of the apportionment board situation for 2010's redistricting.
But you didn't come here for that...everybody has been talking about those issues.
Is it possible that Mary Taylor or people around her (read "staffers") are jealous of the amount of attention being lavished on Rob Portman and John Kasich (and to a lesser degree Ken Blackwell due to the RNC Chair race)?
Mary, we all love ya! But this has to stop... I promise you that when the time comes to get focused on re-electing you to State Auditor, you'll get plenty of attention.
UPDATE: Another (email) source makes an excellent point: There may also be another place where all this is coming from and that is from her husband and his business contacts.
Another point that I keep hearing is just how much Team Taylor hates fundraising. Guess what, kids, this is the Big Leagues and sometimes you have to sing for your supper, so buck up and get 'er done! Mmmkay?
