Congressman Bob Gibbs Will Vote to Free Jobs and Energy from EPA’s Grasp

Release:
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bob Gibbs issued the following statement about H.R. 2021, the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011 which is expected to be on the House floor for a vote tomorrow:

“H.R. 2021 is a job saving and job creating bill.  With exorbitant gas prices and unemployment stuck at 9%, I will vote for its passage to provide the American people much needed relief from the burdensome regulations imposed by the job-destroying EPA.

“More American energy means more American jobs and lower energy costs. This legislation will eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production opportunities off the coast of Alaska, helping to address soaring gas prices and create new jobs by moving forward on energy projects.

“President Obama and his cronies at the EPA fail to understand that red tape and arbitrary regulations are holding economic growth hostage.  We need to remove the administration’s barriers to oil and natural gas production here at home so that we can allow businesses to create more American jobs and decrease our dependence on foreign sources of energy.

“This bill not only creates up to 50,000 jobs, it increases America’s energy independence by opening access to fuel off the coast of Alaska and other areas of the country.  Approximately 27 billion barrels of oil and 132 trillion cubic feet of natural gas will now be accessible after years of EPA permitting delays.”
