WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement after the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the health reform law's individual mandate is unconstitutional:
“I am pleased that Obamacare’s ‘individual mandate’ that will require all Americans to purchase health insurance has been ruled in court as unconstitutional. This measure is a radical, unprecedented overreach by Washington that violated citizen’s rights by forcing them to buy a private product whether they want to or not.
“While this decision takes a step forward, Obamacare still contains a number of provisions that will eliminate jobs, reduce hours and wages, and limit future job creation. We must continue fighting for the repeal of this job-destroying health care law and replace it with common-sense reforms that will actually lower costs and protect jobs.”
