Speaker Boehner Applauds House GOP's “Path to Prosperity” Budget

Release:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the following statement applauding House Republicans’ fiscal year 2013 budget resolution:

“Today, House Republicans are releasing a budget focused on putting Americans back to work, protecting our seniors, and closing President Obama’s massive budget deficits. The national debt now exceeds the size of our entire economy, but the president is proposing more spending and higher taxes, while Senate Democrats haven’t passed a budget in more than 1,000 days. Far from ignoring our debt crisis, Republicans are again proposing responsible solutions to tackle it once and for all, including cutting spending, reforming our broken tax code, and strengthening health and retirement security. We also propose reversing the president’s policies that are driving up gas prices, and implementing an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy to help address rising energy costs and create jobs.

“This budget builds on the pro-growth Plan for America’s Job Creators and the Pledge to America’s vision of a smaller, less costly, and more accountable government that honors freedom and opportunity. I applaud Chairman Ryan and members of the Budget Committee for putting together a budget worthy of the people we serve, and hope President Obama and Senate Democrats will finally do the same. The greatest threat to our economy and our future is doing nothing.”
