In the Crosshairs: Where is the Personal Responsibility
More and more, dear readers, I hear members of Congress wailing about being misled by the Bush Administration, and that the Administration was using faulty intelligence. If the members of Congress truly thought that, then why did they vote overwhelmingly for the War? Most of the Nincompoop Nine Dem Presidential Candidates who were/are members of Congress at the time of the vote, all of them except, I believe Ms. Mausley Brown and Mr. Kucinich, VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE WAR.... OK, then if there were faulty intelligence that these idiots and other chirpers say the President used against them, then why did they decide the same way as the President when viewing the intelligence data for themselves? Are they not just as responsible as the person they are demonizing, George W. Bush, for making such a "hasty and unnecessary decision" as Jean Kerry has said? I believe so. Yet, these politicos are so worried about their own status they would rather blame the President and say they were misled, when they were presented the same intelligence, had the same opportunity for study, and when no one held a gun to their head for a yes vote (unlike the members of govt. in Iraq last fall). John Edwards voted for it, Dick Gephardt voted for it, as did all the rest.....Dick Gephardt even said, "giving Bush the authority to attack Iraq could avert war by demonstrating the United States is willing to confront Saddam over his obligations to the United Nations.
"I believe we have an obligation to protect the United States by preventing him from getting these weapons and either using them himself or passing them or their components on to terrorists who share his destructive intent." Gephardt even helped to draft the measure in the first place.
So, then, do we only blame Mr. Bush, who by law must share intelligence and the record shows did share all the same intelligence with the members of Congress, if in fact some out there believe the war was unjustified? I SAY NO!!!!! The democrats are showing their typical liberal propensity for blurring the truth. They had the same info, they thought the war was justified, they had the chance to study it further, they had the chance to change it...but they did not. Therefore, Jean Kerry, Edwards, Gephardt, and all the others are just as culpable as any Texas plot (Ted Kennedy's allusion) in the happenings in Iraq.
I, of course, believe the war was justified, and that we did act accordingly, and became more convinced after researching with Matt the UN resolutions and their language. I became more convinced of the justification upon seeing and hearing about the mass graves and rape rooms. I am even more sure we did the right thing after reading the details of the David Kay PRELIMINARY report. In this report, Mr. Kay says Iraq had the plans, had the documentation for WMD. Folks, the terrorists are not after warheads and samples, they are after the plans. Saddam having these plans, and being a known supporter of terrorists shows he was a clear and present danger. Therefore, the war is justified, and I think freedom to the oppressed is justification enough.
In conclusion, do not be swayed by the blame game of the likes of Jean Kerry, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, etc., even if you are against the war. These liars and twofaced politicians had the same access to information as the President, had the same reports, and voted to go to war. Some even helped draft the measure. Now they claim it was only an effort to threaten war, but the language of the Resolution is clear. Do not be swayed by dogma by these people. They are attempting to undermine our efforts, and have done little but embolden those who would strike against us by their seditious speech and propaganda. Why do you think terror in Iraq has picked up during election season, people? The terrorists have listened to these 9 Nincompoops drum up anti-war flavor and are attempting to do exactly what Ho Chi Minh did against us in Vietnam--turn the public opinion machine against the efforts of freedom and democracy. If we let this happen, we will be what the terrorists think we are--weak willed, and not willing to sacrifice.
Now, we are hearing about this massive 87 billion dollar package...Folks, do you realize this is less than 1% of our GDP? It is less than we spent on two world wars. Come on. Isn't the advancement of democracy in the Middle East and stability worth that? I think so.
Do not be swayed by these hypocritical Democrat 9 who seem to have selective memories about their Iraq statements and such. They are merely pandering to the leftist media, and to the leftist base in the Democratic party. If they win, we will be looking at emboldened terrorists, more attacks, and more handwringing than action.
