Iraqi Minister Tells UN To Get With The Program
Iraq's foreign minister told the UN Security Council to stop bickering over the war that brought down Saddam Hussein and come together to help rebuild his shattered nation.
In a pointed address delivered with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on hand, Hoshyar Zebari said the United Nations had failed to stand up to Saddam to defend the Iraqi people, and called for a swift UN return to the country.
"One year ago, the Security Council was divided between those who wanted to appease Saddam Hussein and those who wanted to hold him accountable," Zebari told the 15-nation council, which was sharply divided over the war.
"The UN as an organisation failed to help rescue the Iraqi people from a murderous tyranny of 35 years," he said. "The UN must not fail the Iraqi people again."

I couldn't agree more. The Unimportant Nobodies have failed the people of Iraq for 12 years with a number of resolutions that they never intended on enforcing and actually enabled Saddam to continue his genocide and weapons collecting.
Mark's Remarks
Koffi says: NO, we are not coming back to your country until you give us control of it so we can do such a slam bang job like we have in other countries, like Somalia, Korea, etc.
Seriously, the Unimportant Nobodies are proving themselves to be anecdotal parodies of an international body. They stood still and let this animal kill and maim, and when time finally came to stand up and be counted, they sat down. Shameful. But what do you expect? This same organization lets human rights violators like Libya and Cuba chair its human rights commissions. How stupid and blatantly hypocritical is that?
The UN has become nothing more than the "Hate the Developed World" club. Even more so, the "Hate the United States Club." Not that it really matters why they hate us, but they hate us because we have the fortitude to stand up and be counted. We have the ability to get things done, and we have people around the world clamoring to come here. What do they have? Repressive dictators leading human rights commisssions, failed programs and occupations (until the US comes in to clean up their messes) and leaders who are anti-Semitic (remember when Koffi applauded that crazy Malaysian p.m.'s anti-Jewish speech, about Israel running the world?).
Yep, great organization there, Koffi.
If the Iraqi minister thought more, he might not want the UN coming in at all. IT seems that the more they touch, the more they screw up.
However, this DOES represent an historic opportunity to come in and actually live up to the UN charter and help these people rebuild. Of course, there would be no cash grab involved, so the other member nations would not be interested.
UN- this is your last chance...come back and be counted among those striving to help the Iraqis...accept your role as a humanitarian body, not a controlling one; or face the trash heap of history. You already have one foot in it.....tread lightly.
