NYT: CT Gov is in Trouble
In his first public address since admitting he made false and misleading remarks about work on his private cottage, Gov. John G. Rowland today apologized for his actions but vowed to stay on the job.
"Today, as I did last week, I ask the people of Connecticut for forgiveness, not their sympathy," the governor told a gathering of the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce at the Radisson Hotel.

[Second to last paragraph of a 17 paragraph story]
A day later, those admissions led the leader of the Connecticut Democratic Party, George C. Jepson, to call for Mr. Rowland's resignation.

Matt's Chat
Who here thinks that if this governor was a Republican, he would have been identified as such in the first paragraph?Mark's Remarks
I do, I do!!!!Yep, if this were a Republican, it would have been repeated every other sentence. And, does Bill Clinton give tips on forgiveness speeches? This comes right out of his drivel over the Monica thing. Remember though-"I....did...not...have..sexual...relations...with..that...woman...Monica...Lewinsky(insert fist beating on podium)" And we know he lied about that. Could it be that he is covering up his own inadequacies as President ( no, not those kind, but you should hear the stories monica tells about 1 cm..never mind) with the tale of warning the Bush admin? Mr. Clinton, if you had done your job, instead of doing your interns, you would have taken at least the third or fourth offer from Sudan to take Bin Laden. Instead, you told Sandy Berger to put it off until after the 1996 election, by which time Usama was warned and was off into hiding....Great Leadership, Mr. Clinton...NOT!
