Saddam Capture Leads to Other Catches

Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s capture is already reaping dividends for the U.S. military, providing intelligence that allowed U.S. soldiers to capture several top regime figures and uncover rebel cells in the capital, a U.S. general said Monday.
...
Since Saddam's capture on Saturday, U.S. Army teams from the 1st Armored Division have captured one high-ranking former regime figure — who has yet to be named — and that prisoner has given up a few others, Hertling said. All the men are currently being interrogated and more raids are expected, Hertling said.

The intelligence that led the military to the men came from the first transcript of Saddam's initial interrogation, and a briefcase of documents Saddam carried with him at the time of his arrest, Hertling said.

Matt's Chat

For those who would say that the capture of Saddam means nothing, I point out that because we have him, he is already leading us to OTHERS. This capture is an extremely useful event both politically and militarily for those who are working in Iraq to bring peace, stability, and democracy.

Eventually, he (or someone he gives up) will divulge what he knows about the weapons of mass destruction and the genocide of his own people. And when that happens, the world will remember those who say that this capture meant nothing...

Mark's Remarks

Ahh, so if one really reads this article, and one actually looks at the FACTS, and does not simply try to spin for smear; then one can see that his capture has led to more captures. In other words, that his capture is leading to other captures. Wow, no one said Saddam was fully cooperating, but then again, as we say: lib hamsters never let truth get in the way of a good smear, do they?
