From the WMDtv #16 Show Notes:
John Kerry is known to be a strong closer, meaning he finishes campaigns strong. What does that mean for this campaign? And what can we expect in the few days ahead? Those are the questions I hope to answer in this segment.
Conventional wisdom tells us that John Kerry’s style is to build momentum at the end of his campaigns. This is a shrewd strategy because it means that every positive is magnified. The downside is that there is little time for response to any negative. The goal then, for Kerry, is to minimize his gaffes while maximizing his confidence in the last month of the campaign.
This is easier said than done in a national campaign. Remember, John Kerry has never run a national campaign before. All of his campaigns have been run in the liberal state of Massachusetts with the aid, comfort and guidance of Kerry’s political other half, Ted Kennedy.
Some will say that John Kerry has been holding back, waiting for the right moment to strike. That is ridiculous. John Kerry has been on the move since the primaries. He has been willing to say or do whatever got him to the next level. The antics we’ve been seeing these last few weeks, in the media and on the campaign trail, are proof of that.
The debates mean more to John Kerry than they do to George W. Bush. And you can tell the level of desperation in the Kerry/Edwards campaign was pretty high when they started clamoring for the debates to commence a couple weeks ago.
Here is what you won’t see from the Kerry camp in the next few weeks. You’ll notice that Ter-RAY-zah has been muzzled since her nonsense on the campaign trail has been embarrassing for both the campaign and the candidate. Also take note that we haven’t seen a whole lot of John Edwards either. And that has a lot to do with not promoting the sense of buyer’s remorse that has to be pervasive throughout the Democratic Party by now.
John Kerry has to ace these debates in order to make it a race again. And the standard for a Kerry win is much higher than for a Bush win. America is comfortable with the fact that President Bush is not a great speaker; the same can not be said of John Kerry. Kerry can’t come across as aloof or overly eggheaded. It will be a difficult act for Kerry to manage. He did fairly well in the first debate but his ability to sustain that level of performance throughout the remaining contests remains to be seen.
If Kerry fails in the debates, you can expect that the Democrats will pull out all of the stops and commence their largest assault yet. That is when the dirty tricks team gets started for real. We’ve already seen liberal misconduct with voter fraud in Ohio, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, I’d keep going but then I’d want to end this little rant with a Howard Dean scream.
The point is that while all you hear on the news are stories about alleged voter suppression by Republicans in which no evidence is produced, the real culprit of voter fraud is our friends on the left. We’ll see more of this right up until Election Day, and if it is close they will cheat some more. We are in for a vicious battle, so stay strong and stay brave.
